To the chagrin of The Mission's residents, a large portion of San Francisco's Mission Dolores Park will close March 13 for six to eight months of renovations, reports Fun Cheap SF. Unfortunately that means if you plan on sunbathing or buying hallucinogenic mushrooms from a shady-looking beardo, you'll have to do it this weekend or wait until the end of the year.

The construction will take place on Dolores' northern side, which includes the so-called Hipster Hill area as well as its tennis courts. Other parts of the park, on the other hand, will be spared the brunt of the construction, so Gay Beach visitors should be able to enjoy the park as usual.

Considering that Dolores is prime real estate for SF's well-dressed young people, it remains to be seen where they head next. What with the expansion of the Outer Mission of late, we could see an influx of visitors at Bernal Heights Park or beyond. Then again, without a Bi-Rite Creamery nearby it's hard to imagine having a reason to visit the park in the first place.
