McAfee Antivirus' days are numbered.
Intel, the owner the the software, announced that they've decided to drop the 'McAfee' from McAfee Antivirus, and slowly transition into its new name: Intel Security. The company is keeping the red shield logo, but is dropping the name, in part, because its founder turned into a crazed psychopath. John McAfee, who founded McAfee Antivirus and sold it in 1994, hasn't had the best publicity as of late. He was wanted as a "person of interest" in Belize after his neighbor died in 2012, and released a number of YouTube videos talking about his exploits, including one where he shows people how to uninstall McAfee Antivirus (surrounded by a slew of young women.)
Of course, McAfee had a humble response.
“I am now everlastingly grateful to Intel for freeing me from this terrible association with the worst software on the planet. These are not my words, but the words of millions of irate users,” McAfee said. “My elation at Intel’s decision is beyond words.”
