GIFs, animals, and bacon: you've probably run into any of these three things within five minutes of opening any Tumblr page. And now we have the proof to back it up. Tumblr named their biggest posts on the social network this year, and categories ranged from food to television to pixel art. The company analyzed millions of blogs, billions of posts, and a hell of a lot more notes, in order to choose which things to highlight for this end-of-the-year list. Tumblr took into account total volume of both original and reblogged posts, tags, web traffic, follower growth over time, and a few other things.
We went through and grabbed the posts with the most notes from a few categories, to give you a glimpse of what Tumblr was like in 2013.
