After months of rumor and speculation, The Wrap is reporting that Paul Rudd is in talks to finalize a deal with Marvel to star in the studio’s 2015 comic book film, Ant-Man. The movie will be directed by The World’s End’s Edgar Wright, who will be working from a script by Attack the Block’s Joe Cornish.

In the original comics, Ant-Man is a scientist named Hank Pym, who creates a formula to shrink himself down to the size of an ant. He also designs a helmet communicator that allows him to give commands to an ant army that helps him fight crime. Along with his wife, Janet, aka The Wasp, Hank was one of the founding members of The Avengers. He can also use his tech to give himself the ability to grow to the size of a skyscraper for his other alter-ego, Giant-Man.

With a cast comprised of comedy veterans, Ant-Man has a chance to inject some bizarre humor into the wonderful world of Marvel, which could separate it from the studio's traditional tone. Ant-Man will hit theaters on July 31, 2015.
