Two separate shootings left seven people injured in Oakland yesterday.

According to the Huffington Post, Oakland Police Department spokeswoman Johnna Watson says that officers responded to reports of a shooting near Verdese Carter Park just after 6 p.m. By the time they arrived, a second shooting had taken place.

All seven victims were men between the ages of 23 and 31. Some were taken to Highland Hospital, while others were transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. The Oakland Tribune says that two of the men were in critical condition as of last night.

Oakland Police Chief Sean Whent said it's very possible that many of the victims were struck by bullets not intended for them. Whent also added that police were still unclear how many shooters there were and whether they were on foot or in a vehicle.
