Grand Theft Auto V has just crushed 7 Guinness World Records. Rockstar Games' latest goldmine is now the fastest selling video game in a 24-hour period and the "fastest entertainment property" to generate a billion bucks.

GTA V reached $1 billion in retail sales within three days of its release on September 17, breaking the previously head record by the Call of Duty series. In its first day of retail sales more than 11.21 million copies of GTA V went into the hands of gamers, generating revenue of $815.7 million.

Grand Theft Auto V Guinness World Records:

None

"GTA totally deserves to be recognized as an icon of modern British culture, and we're thrilled to be able to feature the game in the record books," Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief, Craig Glenday, said. "Gaming is no longer a niche hobby, as GTA V has proved, and how exciting that it's taken on the might of Hollywood and won! I'm also doubly proud as a Dundonian to welcome this home-grown series back into the Guinness World Records book."

Rockstar North, the games developer is based in the Edinburgh, Scotland. So as odd as it sounds a satire about America and Los Angeles has become a point of British pride.

This begs the question, why the hell doesn’t online work yet? More details are to come on that later today.
