Eidos Montreal has announced plans to expand the Deus Ex franchise into a concept it’s calling the Deus Ex: Universe. The new expanded universe will include PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 titles but Eidos' goal is larger than the story of a single game. Eidos Montreal head David Anfossi says, "The concept behind Deus Ex: Universe is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games."

The Deus Ex: Universe will include updated games on multiple platforms on a "regular basis" and to develop at "deep conspiracy" that spans multiple games. Not limited to PC and console games, Universe will include mobile games, books and graphic novels. Anfossi says that Eidos Montreal is "already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-gen consoles."

The core theme of the new game will be "trans-human segregation." "The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment," says Anfossi, "nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance."
