NSA Probes Deep Into India's Nuclear and Technology Programs

Don't mind us.

Everyone's favorite super spying agency is at it again. According to recently leaked documents via Edward Snowden, the NSA has been keeping stringent tabs on India, far more than they frankly should have. In a report by The Hindu, a prominent Indian English-language daily newspaper, the NSA has been rifling through data regarding India's nuclear, political and space programs, monitoring the discussion in “real-time,” between politics and scientists in India.

While surveillance is nothing new, this comes right on the heels of Secretary of State John Kerry's affirmation that the U.S. does not look at individual conversations (such as the ones that were allegedly looked at), but instead “randomly surveys data” to find terrorist communications. While India is not the safest country in the world, looking at their technology programs on an individual conversation-by-conversation basis hardly qualifies as counter-terrorism.

Great work, NSA. We weren't aware that making the U.S. look bad on an international scale was a part of the mission statement.
