This is in no way close to being confirmed yet, but the thought is still an intriguing one. According to TheWrap, Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan is being eyed for Roland Emmerich's upcoming Independence Day sequels, and, as some sources close to prodution reveal, it seems like both Emmerich and Jordan are interested in making the casting happen.

No offer had been made yet—Jordan is reportedly just one of the many "up and coming" actors that Emmerich has met with for the film, but he's high on the studio's list because of his impressive performance in Fruitvale Station.

It's not too clear what part exactly Jordan is up for, or if Will Smith has changed his mind about returing to the franchise (it's been previously reported that he's "too expensive" for the studio at this post), but it's looking likely that Jordan would be taking over the franchise if there are more installments after these upcoming sequels—ID Forever - Part One, and ID Forever - Part Two.

In addition to Fruitvale Station, studio execs are said to be impressed with Jordan's performances in Chronicle, The Wire, and Friday Night Lights.
