Following in the bratty footsteps of Batman fans who staged a formal petition against #Batfleck, the Fifty Shades of Grey fan community was equally quick to protest the film adapation's casting ofSons of Anarchy'sCharlie Hunnam (who is actually quite underrated) and Dakota Johnson as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. They were even nice enough to offer their own approved replacements in the petition: White Collar's Matt Bomer and Rory Gilmore Alexis Bledel. It reads:
"Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING."
Forty thousand signatures later, Bomer responded to ET Online: "I'm so grateful for the fans and touched. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie with Charlie and Dakota." Sorry guys, looks like you're stuck with Jax Teller. Maybe now this trend of fanboys (and girls) petitioning movies they haven't even seen a frame of yet just because they don't like casting choices will come to an end?*
*Or not. Since his response went up, the number of signatures has jumped to 71,000 and counting.
