One Direction's Morgan Spurlock-directed documentary, This Is Us, may have dominated the three-day weekend box office, but Lee Daniels' The Butler is the official four-day box office winner. According to Deadline, the The Butler pulled in $20 million over the four-day weekend, compared to the $18 million that This Is Us earned. Total, The Butler has earned $79.3 million during its three weeks in the box office. This is a bit of a surprise since This Is Us seemed to have all the advantages—One Direction, it's in 3D, it had a $5 million headstart on Thursday and Friday shows—but, luckily, all is right with the world, and The Butler proved that people will sometimes pick a quality drama over a concert documentary about a boy band.

The rest of the box office over the four-day weekend is pretty uninteresting—We Are the Millers is still at the number three spot after four weeks, with a four-day holiday cumulative of $16.3 million. Disney's Planes 3D is sitting at number four with a four-day cumulative of $10.9 million, and, rounding out the top five, new release Instructions Not Included surprised with a four-day cumulative of $10.3 million.
