Gran Turismo 6 is set to drop this December, and developers have already announced a large patch for the game that will coincide with its release.

Not to worry though, the patch is nothing mechanical to the game or any glitch problems they are experiencing, but rather to include the massive amount of content and features Gran Turismo's creators want to include.

With update patches scheduled for 12 months, Gran Turismo 6 is gearing up for such a vast assortment of cars, maps, race modes and online features that when the game is originally release it will only contain a portion of the actual games scheduled content.

With the game being only three months away, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi of Polyphony Digital said in a interview, "Everything's very tight. It's an incredibly tight schedule. As to being able to include everything we want to on day one, we probably won't be able to. I think for the 12 months following the release we'll continue to update the software. Because in Gran Turismo 6 we're preparing a lot of different things we haven't even touched on yet."

This patch isn't unprecedented, as Gran Turismo 5 received a large day one patch on it's release in 2010 that introduced multiplayer.Gran Turismo 6will include multiplayer feature as well with a updated online lounge to make setting up championships and races with other players easier than ever.

In regards to the online play, Yamauchi said, "The online features are already working - we'll be updating it with a day one patch, and we're still overflowing with stuff we'd like to do. So I think the day one patch will be a fairly large patch."

Gran Turismo 6 does not have a set in stone release date of yet, but is slated for December. What do you think of the scheduled content patches and has it convinced you to secure your copy? Let us know and check back for more updates as the release date approaches.
