Looks like that 'strong rumor' about Alec Baldwin getting his own MSNBC weekly news show was, in fact, true: According to Deadline, MSNBC has officially confirmed that Baldwin will be hosting a weekly current events show on the network.

The show, which is titled Up Late With Alec Baldwin for now, and focus on current events and culture. Baldwin is known for being extremely passionate about, well, everything, so this will likely be one to watch if only to see him yelling at people and talking shit about The Daily Mail or something. Baldwin has hosted his own podcast, Here's the Thing, since 2011.

In a statement, the president of MSNBC, Phil Griffin, tactfully attempted to explain Baldwin's often rage-y passion: "I’ve been talking with Alec for a while and can’t wait to bring his personality and eclectic interests to MSNBC...He’s got such passion for ideas and what’s going on in the world -  he’s going to be a great addition to our line-up."

The series will air on Fridays at 10 PM, and is set to launch sometime in October.
