For any of you that had the bald misfortune of playing this summer’s Star Trek tie-in game, you already know the pain and horror that, uh, experience wrought.

Whaddaya know – it turns out that Trek director J.J. Abrams feels the same way. In a recent interview with Gamerhub TV, Abrams said he was “emotionally hurt” over the game’s abysmal treatment of the property.

“The last game, which was obviously a big disappointment to me, was something that we were actually involved in at the very beginning,” Abrams said in the interview. “ Then we sort of realized that it was not going in a place where we were going to get what we wanted, so we dropped out.”

Considering how much of a big deal it was that Abrams’ production company Bad Robot was involved with developer Digital Extremes from the beginning of the game’s production cycle – and moreover how much promise Trek seemed to have when it debuted at E3 2011 – the director’s plain disappointment is totally understandable.

(If you bothered to play more than a few hours into the game, it became blatantly obvious it wasn’t even close to finished.) Check out the full interview via the link below.
