Deep Silver has announced that the next entry into its Dead Island franchise will be Dead Island: Epidemic, a free-to-play MOBA title.

The multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game for Windows PC will allow players to compete on one of three teams to survive against a zombie onslaught. Deep Silver says the game will "feature all the trademark elements that are part of a Dead Island experience." So we can expect lots of hacked-up bloody torsos and the most physically fit female zombies around, they do quite a bit of running after all. In classic Deep Silver fashion they've dubbed the game a ZOMBA, "zombie online multiplayer battle arena" game.

The official outing of Dead Island: Epidemic will take place at Gamescom later this month in Germany. Deep silver hasn't announced the games developer or release date but Techland made the previous Dead Island titles.
