Celebrate Chuck Brown's Birthday at the Howard Theatre in D.C. Tomorrow (8/22)

Remembering the legend.

Tomorrow is a big day at the Howard Theatre (620 T St. NW). First and foremost, the historic venue will celebrate its 103rd anniversary, but Aug. 22 also would've been the legendary Chuck Brown's 77th birthday. The Godfather of go-go passed away last May at the age of 75, and a birthday show in his honor has been a long-standing tradition in D.C. That tradition will continue tomorrow night with a performance from the Chuck Brown All-Star Band, who will be joined by a few special guests.

The show begins at 8 p.m. and doors open 6 p.m.; tickets are $20 and can be purchased here. Ben's Chili Bowl, another D.C. landmark which will celebrate its 55th birthday tomorrow, will also be present to engage in the festivities. Tomorrow's gathering will be a celebration of go-go and half-smokes—it doesn't get more D.C. than that.
