While XCOM is known for strategic play, the new third-person shooter prequel The Bureau looks to break the series mold a bit, giving the game a cover shooter makeover not unlike Mass Effect. Of course, you can’t make an XCOM game without some element of planning, which is where giving orders to your squadmates comes in.
Unlike most action games, though, it looks deep enough to have you choose precisely where to move them and what abilities to use. As a mashup between a typical sci-fi cover shooter and a strategy game, it looks like it could be promising.
Also it takes place in 1962, so everyone is a snappy dresser. And there’s talk of the Soviets. Check it out.
