Last night, an MTA bus driver was attacked and robbed on New York City's Lower East Side. According to police, they received a call reporting the robbery of an on-duty bus driver around 8:35 p.m. on Delancey Street. The M14D bus driver had just released passengers when a man hopped onto the bus, punched her repeatedly and snatched her purse.

The assault left the driver with facial lacerations and she was taken to New York Downtown Hospital for treatment. Police are still investigating the robbery, but Frank Austin, safety director for the Transit Workers Union, says that the attack left the driver "completely traumatized."
