Forget iPad Mini: A 12.9 Inch iPad Might Be in the Works

Is bigger, better?

None

Apple may be developing a large iPad that will surpass the original iPad in size—and their eyeing a release date for the first half of 2014. If the reports are true (it's completely rumor as of now), Apple will expand this new version of the iPad from the 9.7 inch display to 12.9 inches, which would undoubtedly look stunning if it came with Retina technology. The site reporting the rumor, ETNews, says the device would literally be called iPad Maxi—a name that for sure won't be sticking around if the device ever saw the light of day (maxi-pads, anyone?).

Putting something like this out in the market would throw Apple into the ultrabook market, and a device this big would serve as a competitor to textbooks and other non-digital media that work better in large formats.
