District 9 was one of the most amazing contemporary science fiction films to come out in recent memory.

Director Neil Blomkamp has another epic to be released this summer, the class war/dystopian future, Elysium. Early buzz surrounding the Matt Damon driven vehicle is already running high. How could we not want someone like Blomkamp helming a possible Halo film?

“I still really love the world and the universe and the mythology of Halo. If I was given control, I would really like to do that film," Blomkamp told IGN.

“But that’s the problem. When something pre-exists, there’s this idea of my own interpretation versus 150 other people involved with the film’s interpretation of the same intellectual property,” he added. “Then the entire film-going audience has their interpretation. You can really live up to or fail in their eyes. That part isn’t appealing to me, but the original pieces are appealing.”

Peter Jackson is still on board as a producer, and the last time Jackson and Blomkamp collaborated District 9 was nominated for a best picture award. What do you think? Would Halo be given the attention it deserves with Blomkamp behind the wheel? Let us know.
