It's hard to imagine NBC's The Office without Steve Carrell ever having portrayed Michael Scott, or Rainn Wilson not portraying Dwight Schrute - but according to this new casting call sheet from day one of auditions, things could have been a lot different at Dunder-Mifflin.

Wilson himself posted the sheet on his Facebook page yesterday, stating: "This is the original sign-in sheet for the first day of casting for The Office given to me by Allison Jones, our incredible casting agent. I was the very first person to audition for the series, 11/06/03. Notice all the amazing talent on the sheet, including the amazing #13! This is perhaps the greatest Office keepsake I have. So grateful for the best job I will ever have."

Wilson and lucky #13, Jenna Fischer, did of course end up going on to star in the series, but more interesting is who potentially could have been their co-stars. Parks and Recreation star Adam Scott apparently auditioned for the role of Jim, while Suburgatory and Firefly star Alan Tudyk, and Upright Citizens Brigade co-founder Matt Besser read for Michael Scott. Wilson auditioned for both Dwight and Michael - how's that for an alternate universe? - and 24 star Mary Jane Rajskub read for Pam.
