Academy Award-winning Life of Pi director Ang Lee is headed to FX to direct the pilot of Tyrant, and now Deadline is reporting that Sam Raimi - who directed the Evil Dead franchise, the first Tobey Maguire-starring Spiderman trilogy, and Oz the Great and Powerful - is set to direct a Fox pilot of his own. Movie directors crossing over to TV, is this the new trend?

Raimi's project, which he is executive producing Rescue Me creator Peter Tolan, is called Rake - starring Greg Kinnear, the show is based on the Australian series of the same name. It focuses on a criminal defense lawyer named Cleaver Greene who, though brilliant, tends to veer towards cases that are "utterly hopeless, without him realizing that he, himself, is perhaps the most desperate case of all." Like House, with lawyers!

It will be the first pilot Raimi has directed. The project is set to go into production in a few days.
