Looks like Julien Temple's long-awaited Marvin Gaye biopic, Sexual Healing, is finally moving forward - with a new lead. According to Deadline, former lead Lenny Kravitz has dropped out of the film after Gaye's son, Marvin Gaye III, threatened legal action if the film moved forward. Instead, Jesse L. Martin will take on the role of the legendary singer.
Interestingly, Martin was attached to this project five years ago when it was being produced by James Gandolfini. It focuses on the time during the 1980's that Gaye spent in Europe overcoming his addictions and getting his life back on track with the assistance of British music producer Freddy Cousaert.
The film will be produced by Vassal Benton and Fred Bestall, and is set to begin production later this month in Europe.
