Half-Life movies have been proposed in the past, but never by Lost creator J.J. Abrams. Not until now, that is.

Abrams and Valve head Gabe Newell (lovably known 'round these parts as Gaben) announced a surprise new partnership at the end of their DICE summit keynote on Tuesday. Valve and Abrams' production company Bad Robot will work together, not just on possible films based on games like Half-Life and Portal, but on video games dreamed up by Abrams and co. as well.

According to Wired:

“There’s an idea we have for a game that we’d like to work with Valve on,” said Abrams while sharing the stage with Valve head Gabe Newell.

Note that neither of those films are confirmed; they're merely going to "figure out" if it will work. Forgive us for getting a bit excited anyway.

Abrams' next project is Star Wars: Episode VII. Still, we're aching to learn more about this collaboration. Maybe he can even push Gaben to finally make a third game in any one of Valve's series—not likely, though.
