Now Starbucks customers can enjoy the morning paper with their cup of coffee at no extra charge.

Nieman Lab reports that The New York Times is offering up to 15 free stories—three articles across its five sections per day, including Top News, Business and Technology—to Starbucks customers so long as they're on its wifi network.

“Starbucks is the ideal setting for The Times to offer enhanced digital access,” said Yasmin Namini, senior vice president, marketing and circulation, The New York Times. “Customers on SDN will discover a diverse selection of Times content updated in real-time, from the day’s top stories to more in-depth features and opinion.”

Non-Times subscribers can currently access a limited number of articles per month on the site, and The Times previously offered free access to Times Reader (its Adobe AIR app). However, as Nieman points out, the new service "might be a sibling to the Times HTML5 app that debuted last fall," given the way it's described in the press release
