In a new appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Katie Couric revealed what's possibly the last thing anyone could have expected: She once went on a date with Larry King, and it resembled a bad Lifetime movie. We'd like to say weirder things have happened, but really, have they?

"I was about 30 years old, and I was going through this period of my life where I was going, 'I'm going to go out when anybody who asks me, because you learn something everytime you go out with a new person,'" Couric explained, before continuing that she applied this philosophy when King, then 56, asked her out to dinner.

"It was at one of these Italian restaurants where they put you right next to each other like they do all the men and their 'nieces,'" she continued, "We're having a nice enough time, and we're going home and I see that we're going over Memorial Bridge, and this is not the way back to my apartment. So I go, 'Larry, where are we going?' And he said, 'My place.'" Couric explained. "And I was like, oh, mother of God."

Couric continues that they went back to his apartment, which was covered in accolades that King had earned over the years. "So we sat there, and what can I say? He lunged," she explained. "And - I love Larry by the way, I love him - I started laughing a little bit because the whole situation was like out of a bad Lifetime movie. So I said, 'Larry, you are such an interesting, nice man, but I would like to meet someone a little closer to my age.'"

For the record, King has brought up his date with Couric before, also on Jimmy Kimmel Live. During an appearance back in 2009, King claimed that he couldn't go upstairs to Couric's apartment because of her roommate - a fact that Couric disputes, because she says she didn't have a roommate at the time.
