Wait, Jeremy Piven has a TV show?

Jeremy Piven's British show Mr Selfridge has gotten the green light for a second season from UK channel ITV. Don't feel bad if you didn't know about it—the first season doesn't premiere stateside until March on PBS.

Piven plays Harry Selfridge, founder of the famous British deparment store called—you guessed it—Selfridges. The first season is set in 1909 London, but alas, Selfridge was American, so we won't get to hear a British accent from Piven. The department store magnate revamped Chicago's Marshall Fields (he began his career as a stock boy) before heading across the pond to give England its first mega store.

Despite—or perhaps because of—the time-and-place similarities to Downton Abbey, Mr Selfridge has been averaging about 8 million viewers in the UK (Downton averages about 9), so it should be no surprise it's been given a second season.

Piven seems born to play a man in power (ahem, super agent Ari Gold in Entourage), so we'll give this period drama a chance. But don't forget, he also played super loser George Costanza in the sitcom-within-a-sitcom on Seinfeld. A chameleon, that one. Catch Mr Selfridge on PBS March 31.
