There may be no bright horizon in store for fans looking forward to South Park: The Stick of Truth, the South Park RPG that was formerly in development at THQ. The bankrupt developer auctioned off its properties today, though if South Park Studios got its way, The Stick of Truth wasn't among them.

According to IGN, South Park Studios claims it can buy the game in its current form, including all the work THQ and Obsidian have done so far, rather than let it be sold to a third party. THQ is apparently claiming that's not the case.

It's unclear what the game's fate will ultimately be—THQ could have sold it by now, or South Park Studios could be gearing up to hand the game off to another publisher. It all depends on what the court decided. When we know more we'll let you know.
