L.A. is PETA's City of the Year for 2012

PETA has blessed Los Angeles by naming it their city of the year for 2012. L.A. was chosen for several reasons, such as being the largest American city to stop pet shops from selling animals from breeders and puppy mills. In addition, the city considered a future ban that would prohibit "circuses and other traveling exhibitions from forcing elephants to perform in L.A.." Also, City Council endorsed Meatless Mondays.
