Perpetually pregnant Jessica Simpson is set to star in a pilot presentation for a comedy based on her life. According to Deadline, the pilot is being developed by Nick Bakay - best known as the voice of cat Salem Saberhagen in Sabrina the Teenage Witch - and his wife, and the pilot has been ordered by NBC.

"I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life," Simpson said of the series, "so between the real life elements and a great team of writers, I think we’ll have people laughing!" Honestly, anyone who tuned into Simpson's old reality show with ex-husband Nick Lachay (Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica) to see her contemplate if Chicken of the Sea tuna is 'chicken or fish' will know that this actually might not be an exaggeration. Hopefully her acting's improved since 2005's The Dukes of Hazzard!

The series, should it be picked up, will be produced by Bakay, former co-Chairman of NBC Universal Ben Silverman, and Jessica's father Joe Simpson.

"Jessica Simpson is truly a modern-day Lucy with incredible comedic chops," commented Silverman, who clearly hasn't seen The Dukes of Hazzard. "From running a fashion empire to wrangling her public image as a new mom, we see Jessica’s character approach a variety of ‘everyday’ circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud."
