On New Year's Day, IHOP opened in the West Village with a brand new location on the corner of Carmine and Varick Streets. Gothamist describes it as "surprisingly cavernous," featuring a "large, twisting dining room" on its main floor and a huge basement.
A server says that business has been slow since the grand opening, especially for dinner, but Gothamist says the place was packed when they made a lunchtime visit. As one of the few chain restaurants in the neighborhood, the new IHOP is open 24/7, which means residents will eventually begin to saunter in at all hours.
