Google is expanding the functions of its Android mobile operating system from phones and tablet devices. The technology giant has teamed up with luxury appliance maker Dacor to develop Android-powered kitchen appliances.

Getting around the kitchen, the company believes, will be easier with mobile OS powered kitchenware. Rice cookers, for example, will be able to determine the type of rice and set cooking instructions. The washing machine, too, will send an alert to your television letting you know it's finished.

Panasonic has already developed a cloud-based, Android microwave that allow users to search recipes and program instructions using smartphones. LG also recently previewed the Smart ThinQ Refrigerator at CES this week.

What are your thoughts about integrating mobile operating systems with home appliances?
