Another successful holiday for new films at the theaters yesterday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was a close race between The Hobbit and Django Unchained for the top spot in the box office on Tuesday, with the The Hobbit earning $9.5 million, and Django Unchained earning $9.2 million. Close behind was Les Misérables, which grossed $7.6 million to sit at the number three spot.
It's been an unbelievably successful holiday season for the box office mostly thanks to these films, which have constantly been jumping around between the top three spots on the charts since Christmas day. The Hobbit has managed to retain the number one spot since December 14th, knocked off by Les Mis for just one day on Christmas.
