The bad news is: That Rainn Wilson-starring Office spin-off, The Farm, has still not been picked up by NBC. The good news is: The pilot for the series will still air, so we can all get a taste of what could have been. Then we can cry about it for a while, because it's not healthy to keep emotions bottled up and all.

According to TV Line, the pilot episode for The Farm has been retooled as to fit in with the storyline of The Office as it wraps up its final season, and will air sometime before the series finale of the show in 2013. “We’re not going to air exactly what it was, because it has certain aspects that were appropriate for a pilot of a new show,” said Office boss Greg Daniels. “We’re going to shoot a little additional material to make it fit into the season more."

Apparently, as the series wasn't picked up, this retooled episode is good news for Dwight's relationship with Angela (Angela Kinsey): There were two scenarios to wrap up Dwight's storyline on The Office, one which set up for his transition to The Farm, and one that included a future with Angela. Writers are now leaning towards the latter option. Happy endings for all!

Except for everyone that was cast in The Farm. But take that up with NBC.
