No surprise about this: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has reportedly surpassed the $500 million benchmark in worldwide earnings. According to Deadline, since its release earlier this month, the film has earned $179.7 million domestically, and an estimated $344 million internationally - bringing its global total to $523.7 million and counting.

Additionally, the film also managed to break records in Australia - it was just released in the country yesterday, and already has been named the biggest film opening on Boxing Day of all time.

The Hobbit currents sits in the number two spot on in the domestic box office charts, behind Les Misérables and ahead of Django Unchained.
