According to Entertainment Weekly, Manu Bennett has been cast as Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke, in The CW’s superhero drama Arrow. Bennett is perhaps best known for playing Crixus in Spartacus on Starz, and for his role as an orc chief in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Though a masked Deathstroke has already been seen in one episode of the series, Bennett will be playing him from now on. It’s also likely that we will see an unmasked Deathstroke now that a recognizable actor has been cast in the role.

Deathstroke is a prominent villain in the DC Universe, and while he's not really associated with the Green Arrow's rogues gallery, he’s such a well-known universal baddie that we don’t mind the change. In this series we’ll see Wilson and Oliver Queen come to an uneasy alliance on the island of Lian Yu in flashbacks, but we’re not sure if we’ll eventually see him in the present as well. We're hoping that we do.
