"Les Misérables" has now earned $58.6 million worldwide. The movie musical, starring Anne Hathaway, premiered on Christmas Day. Hathaway, who plays Fantine, has frequently talked about how watching the movie has made her cry, but when asked about the number of takes of "I Dreamed a Dream" she had some interesting things to say.

Director Tom Hooper let her perform the song over a dozen times—he says he got the perfect performance on the fourth take—but after 20 takes, Hooper told her to stop.

"And I was like, 'Fair enough.' I never bettered it," she explained.

Asked if she is pleased with the version that appears in the final cut, she shrugged half-heartedly.

"Eh."

But viewers didn't think so. Les Miserables broke records at the Christmas Day box office coming it at number one.
