Director Sam Mendes was a curious choice for Skyfall when the decision was first announced. He had never attempted a large franchise such as this, but as we have seen with the likes of Christopher Nolan and Matthew Vaughn in the past, all you need is a great filmmaker to make a great blockbuster. And now that Skyfall is an out-and-out hit, Cinema Blend has news that should make any 007 fan’s day.

The website is reporting that Mendes has already come up with the plot for the next Bond flick along with scriptwriter John Logan. The news came from Neal Purvis and Robert Wade – who wrote Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall – while they were teaching a master class at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival. Here is the full quote:

None

It’s interesting that Mendes has any involvement in the Skyfall sequel at all, especially since he has doubted whether he would return to the franchise. Perhaps the runaway success of Skyfall, plus a potential fat paycheck, will change his mind. We sure hope so.
