Of all the special effects-laden Hollywood blockbusters to hit theaters this year, Peter Jackson's upcoming Hobbit movie is undoubtedly the special effects-iest. An army of animators, artists, sound designers, coders, colorists, editors, production managers and more are currently toiling away at Parkroad Post-production Studio in New Zealand to get the film ready for its November 28 world premiere date. In the final entry of his series of video blogs chronicling the journey of the film to screen, Peter Jackson shows us the bleeding edge of special effects filmmaking.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hits theatres worldwide (in 3D high-frame-rate IMAX and Dolby 64-speaker Atmos Sound) on December 14.
