OUYA System Now in Development Phase, Android Fueled Console Fully on Schedule

So, this system is going to bridge the gap between this gen and next gen, right?

None

We all remember Ouya right?

The Kickstarter success story of the new Android engine console that's going to democratize the entire gaming industry? OUYA has raised over $8.6 million dollars in funds since its Kickstarter campaign, has left the design phase, and is now fully in the development stage.

“We’re still going full-steam ahead. We’ve been refining OUYA’s hardware design (cosmetics, mechanicals, electricals, thermals etc.). We’ve spent most of this time in the design phase, as getting it right up front saves us a lot of redesign and iteration later. We’ve had some of the best engineers and designers take a look at every design element and fine tune it. Our CAD models and SLAs (plastic prototypes that provide us with a physical look and feel of the product) are finished, and we moved out of the design phase and into development a couple of weeks ago,” said Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman.

The console is currently running the most recent version of Android, Jellybean and is scheduled for a March 2013 release date. What are your thoughts? Is OUYA going to be the god-send we're all hoping it will be? Let us know on Twitter.
