BioWare has revealed that Mass Effect 3 Special Edition will be a day-one title for the Wii U, releasing Nov. 18 (Nov. 30 in EU and Dec. 5 in Japan). In a BioWare blog post, External Producer Melanie Faulknor spilled some details about the game and the collaboration between BioWare Edmonton and Straight Right that went into porting the game and adding all the new features and content.

"Our team in Edmonton and the team at Straight Right was working together constantly to create a feature set we think would enhance Mass Effect 3 and we’re proud of the results!" Faulknor writes. "You can control your squadmates, utilize both Shepard and your squad’s abilities and even play Mass Effect 3 all from the GamePad."

She also revealed that the ME 3 Special Edition will include the "From Ashes" DLC, the "Extended Cut" DLC, the "Rebellion," "Resurgence" and "Earth" multiplayer packs, and "a bonus heavy weapon" on-disc, not to mention a new update to the Mass Effect: Genesis interactive graphic novel backstory.

Read the rest of the blog post for an in-depth look at the challenges of bringing Mass Effect 3 to Wii U.
