Every once in a while a comic book publisher will make a decision that is so spot-on that we’re left wondering why they didn’t do it sooner. And that’s exactly what happened today when MTV revealed that Jeff Lemire (Animal Man, Essex County) would be taking over the writing duties on the Green Arrow comic series, along with artist Andrea Sorrentino.

This new regime will be taking over with Green Arrow #17, which should hit in February after current writer, Ann Nocenti, is finished with her last arc. With the recent success of books like Animal Man and Justice League Dark, Lemire has proven himself to be one of DC’s new go-to guys in terms of superhero titles with some heart and soul. And now that The CW’s Arrow, which is based on the Green Arrow, has been garnering solid ratings on TV, this is a character that is ready to make the jump to the next level.
