Microsoft Surface, the company's bold new foray into tablets and, more generally, hardware, is just 10 days away. The Windows 8 tablet has already been the subject of a guerrilla-style marketing campaign in select urban areas, but with launch date approaching, Microsoft is wisely taking things up a notch with mainstream television spot.

In the ad, the conspicuously diverse residents of an affably non-descript town break out into a highly choreographed dance routine with their Surfaces, delighting in the pleasant clicking noise it makes when the tablet is attached to its keyboard cover. The commercial is amusing, in a random sort of way, and it does show how Surface is really unlike any other tablet or laptop out there. But will it be enough to convince consumers to track down a Microsoft Store and buy one?
