Yoselyn Ortega, the nanny who allegedly stabbed two children to death on the Upper West Side last week, awoke in her hospital bed and asked about her own family. Ortega, 50, has been accused of killing 6-year-old Lucia and 2-year-old Leo Krim before stabbing herself in the neck in an apparent suicide attempt. Ortega suffered a broken vertebrae as a result of the attempt on her own life.

Ortega has undergone surgery and is reportedly speaking "a little." She's contacted a lawyer and refuses to answer questions, but did speak to her doctor and inquired about her family. Ortega lives in a Harlem apartment with her sister, niece and 17-year-old son. A warrant to search the apartment was obtained, but produced no clues or motive for the killings.

Last Thursday, Marina Linsley Krim, the wife of CNBC executive Kevin Krim, returned home to find two of her children dead in the bathtub, and Ortega bleeding from the neck. She was returning from taking her other daughter, 3-year-old Nessie, to swimming lessons.
