With the Holiday season closing in, EA has released that their third quarter sales are exceptionally weak.

With the cancellation of NBA Live 13 and the current critical failure of Medal of Honor: Warfighter, EA recognizes that the fall season is a bit of a wash at this point. Compared to the massive successes of titles in the same genres, NBA 2K13 and Battlefield 3, EA knows that their games fall far short of expectations.

"We are managing the ups and downs. Our Q1 and Q2 were better than expected. Our Q3 appears soft, due mostly to Medal of Honor," said EA CEO John Riccitiello in a conference call with early yesterday.

The game currently has a metacritic score in the low 50s, and has been charged with being a cookie cutter title with very little new features. The cancellation of NBA Live 13 was also touched on during the press release.

"EA Sports is committed to basketball and we will publish a basketball game when we can match the quality of franchises like Madden NFL, NHL Hockey, Tiger Woods PGA Tour and FIFA soccer,"  EA labels president Frank Gibeau added.

EA plans to keep supporting Warfighter DLC and continued marketing, regardless of the poor showing of the title. What do you guys think? Has EA missed the mark this fall? Let us know what you think on Twitter.
