The Prequel To “300” Gets An Official Title

At first it was known simply as Xerxes, then it was rumored to be called 300: The Battle of Artemisia, and now, according to Deadline, Warner Brothers’ prequel to 300 will officially be titled 300: Rise of an Empire. The movie will take place before the events of the first film and will focus on the Persian King Xerxes, who will again be played by Rodrigo Santoro. Noam Murro is taking over the directing duties from Zack Snyder, and Sullivan Stapleton will play the Athenian general, Themistocles.

300: Rise of an Empire will be released on August 2, 2013.
