That means fewer ports.

The PSP was a great little system, but it had its share of problems, and there was never really a chance that it would catch up to the ever-dominant Nintendo DS.

But Sony's Marketing VP of handhelds and consoles John Koller has promised that they learned a lot from the PSP, and that the PS Vita won't make the same mistakes—specifically, it'll have more than just ports in its library of games.

"The issue that happened with PSP is we got overrun with ports," Koller told Gamasutra. "It became very difficult for us to define what made PSP unique. The content development became a bit unstructured or decentralized, in that we got a lot of content that was on PlayStation 2 and got thrown over to the handheld."

True that. He cites Assassin's Creed: Liberation and Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified as examples of original, non-port games in major franchises on the Vita. Do you think the PS Vita can keep it up with games like that, or will its library eventually begin to devolve like the PSP's did?
