It's what we wanted, after all.

The Dead or Alive series of fighting and voyeurism volleyball games is occasionally criticized for putting too much emphasize on its female characters' jiggly bits, as in the case of the bikini bonuses for the just-released Dead or Alive 5. But game director Yohei Shimbori told Gamasutra that the devs are just doing what fans want.

"We actually got a lot of feedback from people who were playing it, saying, 'We want bigger breasts. Make the characters more like that.'" he said. He was apparently surprised by this.

"If you have a solid fighting game system there, there's nothing wrong with having beautiful characters as a layer on top of that—that's another layer of entertainment that there's a need for," Shimbori added. "If there wasn't a need for it, people wouldn't have responded to the alpha demo like they did, and send us feedback."

Right. We're not saying he's wrong—no doubt there are fans who'd like to see huge boobs on every character in every game—but can you imagine if every game developer stuck to that philosophy? Actually, it would be kind of awesome, now that we think about it. The Master Chief could use his new rack to seduce the Covenant instead of shooting them.
