Several reports have emerged about a shooting near the Empire State Building this morning. According to various reports, between two to seven people were shot at 5th Avenue and 34th Street around 9 a.m.

According to the Post, only two people were shot. However, via Twitter, the NYScanner claimed that a total of seven people were shot, including the shooter, fatally killed by police. Five of the other victims are reportedly in stable condition, while one is in serious condition.

UPDATE: New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly has spoken on this morning's shooting, naming the suspected gunman, 53-year-old Jeffrey Johnson, who fatally shot a former coworker before being pursued and killed by police. Nine people were wounded in the ensuing gunfire.

"Some may have been accidentally shot by police officers," Kelly said.
