Between new posters, trailers, and TV spots dropping nearly every day, the marketing campaign for The Dark Knight Rises can feel pretty overwhelming at times. And for those of you out there trying to avoid spoilers, the next 10 days are going to be nearly impossible to navigate through. But for everyone else, it's like every day is Christmas. And to add to the anticipation for the movie, actor Gary Oldman debuted the first full clip from it on last night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Featuring Commissioner Gordon (Oldman) having a brief conversation with GCPD Officer John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), this clip establishes how the city views Batman since the events of The Dark Knight. After taking the heat for Harvey Dent's death, Batman is now retired—leaving the protection of the city up to Gordon and his police. It's not an action-packed piece of footage, but it's vital if you want to understand where Gotham is eight years after the events of the previous film.

The Dark Knight Rises will hit theaters on July 20.
